I am irritated with life in general. And my goal of going to Ukraine feels like “One Step Forward, Two Steps Back” right now.
It’s like when I first did my Big Hairy Audacious Goal layout for my backyard farm (the Ukrainian version). To meet the goal, you need to take step A. To be able to take step A, you first need to do thing B. For thing B, you need to BE in Ukraine and besides that doubling the cost of everything, there’s a war on. So, orcs!
Therefore, as much as I love and support the Knights who are fighting in the various branches of the Ukrainian military, I am wishing for the whole “special exercise” to be over and done with. Then, hopefully, the state of Martial Law will be revoked and I can go over and complete MY mission!
I am giving my lawyer person in Kyiv grey hairs (assuming he has hair!) because I keep looking at really cheap “rescue properties” on OLX.ua. He wants me to look at better quality properties because – let’s be frank, here! – the taxes and fees involved will be higher! And that would probably also mean that I am a “higher class” person.
I really don’t like what I can easily afford. The houses are horrible and all look the same! However, I am seriously considering taking a hammer drill to the internal walls of those cottages and taking away all the dingy little rooms with too many doorways in favor of a more open-plan design. That will impact many things as well, starting with the property plans. Obviously, there are also costs involved with the demolition and rebuilding so the question remains if that will be worth my while in the end, especially if it’s a property that’s at the higher end of my budget to begin with.
I hate waiting.
I hate orcs.
Today is tough.
