There’s a story that I’ve heard told at a few business conferences before, about a young salesman that goes to visit a prospective client on the farm. While they are having coffee, the young man notices the family basset hound howling non-stop.
“Why is the dog howling like that?” he wanted to know.
“Oh, him,” the old man answered, “he’s sittin’ on a nail, and it hurts ‘im, so he keeps on yowlin’.”
“But why doesn’t he just get up and move somewhere else?”
“‘Cos it ain’t hurtin’ him enough, yet!”
Well, I can confidently say that this nail that I have been sitting on for the past twenty years is finally hurting me enough that I have decided to DO something about my situation!
And as people who know me know, my decisions are final 90% of the time. (I can sometimes be persuaded to change my mind, but that is rare!)
I have a countdown timer that I’ll embed on the side of this blog. It’s there to keep me on track. And with that timer, I have a long TO DO list. There are many pieces that need to fall in place over the next six months, but I am confident I’ll be able to get everything done, organized, bought and paid.
It’s going to be something new for me. And it’s something I’ll make a success of!
