I have an issue.
I want to qualify for a D-style visa in Ukraine, enabling me to run a small business as a backyard farmer, and put out some video content every week or so. However, I am stuck in some seriously sticky red tape.
It’s a case of being neither here nor there. On the one hand, I am not stateless or needy enough to qualify for asylum, but I am also not rich enough to buy myself a fresh start in Ukraine. I’m also 47 years old, which makes me way too old to accept a job or start a new qualification. Frankly, I don’t want either. Been there, done that.
This door is not quite locked, but it needs one of those pass-key things. Or an app, if that’s how you operate. One where you point your credentials at the lock and the door magically swings open.
I probably could wrangle a “job” in Ukraine – heaven knows I know enough people there who won’t ask questions – but I want to do things by the book. I just wish I could reach that book, somehow. There must be a legal way to work around and through all the red tape without it costing me an arm, a leg, and a kidney. I shall escalate the matter to the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs. Someone in his office should be able to help me find a solution, if not Mr Kuleba, himself.
It can’t be that difficult.
