I have a friend who is not only one of the top Snooker/Billiards coaches in my country but also the current South African Masters’ champion! We’ve known each other for years, and he told me something interesting this morning. He said I can’t work on myself – I need someone to work ON me.
So yes, I do need a coach. I need someone to brandish a carrot and a stick and get and keep me going in the direction of my dreams. But first I need to take a long, hard look at myself. What do I bring to the table, when someone wants to engage with me? And how do I make this list without seeming arrogant? This is rather ironic because I do feel pretty inadequate at this point in my life.
Well, here goes…
- I am smart.
 - I am creative.
 - I am a good writer who knows how to brandish apostrophes correctly and effectively.
 - I am brave.
 - I am friendly.
 - I am helpful.
 - I have a wicked, off-beat sense of humor.
 - I am loyal.
 - I am a life-long learner.
 - I am a devoted mom to my cats.
 - I care for my plants.
 - I don’t suffer fools.
 - I am independent.

Next step, blending those into a brand. That is going to take a lot more thinking.
While I am thinking of a way to make all these attributes work in my favor, please feel free to drop some money into my piggy bank. I have some lofty goals to achieve within the next year or so, but unfortunately, they all take cash, not favors. Hehe.
