They say that the road to hell is paid with good intentions, and I fell into that trap solidly. Some of my goals have dates and actions, but most don’t and that means I have to refocus my efforts toward the end goal.
I find that I tend to be extremely unfocused, flitting from one project to the next without really completing anything to any level of success. It’s like I just want a taste… but by then I have invested quite a lot of money and I know that I definitely won’t get anything of that back.
So…
For the rest of 2022, I plan to revisit all my old, uncompleted projects and actually COMPLETE THEM! That means that I would have to:
- Use up all the soapmaking ingredients at my mom’s place. Make and cure and package and sell!
 - Make as much cheese as I can. That won’t be a hardship, as I have found that I prefer “real” cheese to the plastic processed stuff sold in the big chain supermarkets, anyway.
 - Write at least 2 more novels and have my drafts edited.
 - Find my niche and complete at least 50 blog entries in that general topic area, so that I can have a good idea of what readers want and what can only be described as waffle.
 - Learn to cut out the abovementioned waffle and write articles containing more substance.
 - Break down the to-do list for the D7 Visa to Portugal into bite-sized chunks and complete as much of it as possible, so that I can hit the proverbial ground running. I already have a timeline in place, it’s simply a matter of executing it, one thing at a time!
 - Practice mindfulness until it becomes a semi-permanent state, and start living in every moment. Learn to relax!
 - Revisit my eating habits. Get back in the habit of cooking proper meals for myself, instead of relying on junk food and takeaways. Learn to make “we-cooked” meals for my own enjoyment. It’s not as much about cutting carbs as it is about cutting chemicals. The fewer preservatives and other sh…crap I can ingest, the better. And I have found that real food is actually extremely filling, so I eat less of it! The idea is to do some serious food prep over the weekends – soup and pies and other dishes – and keep a stash of frozen meals that I can simply reheat when I get home from work. Like TV dinners, but with no TV involved.
 - Look at my sleeping habits and practice better sleeping hygiene. No more all-nighters. I am not 18 anymore, despite what I may think.
 - Create a food forest where I live, in pots.

Yes, that’s a helluva to-do list. And definitely not complete. To be frank, I have not even TOUCHED on all the skills that would be necessary for yours charmingly to be able to make a success of an off-grid homestead somewhere in the Portuguese countryside. I know there are blogs out there with articles listing whole collections of new skills. I just need to find them, start at the beginning, and practice those skills until I have achieved some level of mastery over them. Can’t be that hard, can it? A weekly skill?
