Over the past ten years, I have made serious judgment errors. And one of them cost me almost my entire gemstone collection, none of which I can replace.
A few weeks ago, I decided to start rebuilding a collection, slowly but surely. I won’t get the same gemstones or deals, but I’m also not the same person I was before. Some stones might fit my new image better.
There is one given in all this, though: I must get the stones set into jewelry pieces and wear them! There is no reason for the pretty rocks to languish in the dark if they were designed to shine. I am working with a manufacturing jeweler to create at least two rings from stones I still have and some that I am considering purchasing.
I am partial to the corundum family of gemstones. Rubies and sapphires are chemically the same mineral. Rubies are all red to very dark pink, but sapphires come in many colors, ranging from the familiar blue to completely clear, and also pinks, oranges, yellows, and greens. Corundum is a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, which makes the stones completely Tessa-proof as well.
Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but I think they are overrated. Give me a ruby or sapphire any day of the week and I’ll be happy.
