Somewhere over Poland, I took a picture out of the airplane window. It was not the first time that I saw clouds from above, but these were foreign clouds, so that made them special.
I can’t recall whether this was my second or third flight of the day. All I can say is that long flights and yours charmingly do not mix well. I can’t sleep while I am traveling, no matter what the mode of transportation. My stepdad calls it FOMO – the fear of missing out. However, the result usually is that I need a day to recuperate, even if there is no jet lag involved.

I left my parents at around 16:00. We didn’t even have time to drink something together beforehand! It was weird saying goodbye to my mom and Tony, but I also knew that I was going on an adventure!
My very first international airplane meal was neither beef nor chicken, but fish! It was served somewhere over the plains of Africa, as we soared into the night. I had an aisle seat, so I could stretch my legs often, and I did! The only other flights I have taken were domestic, and the bathrooms on those airplanes were not only cramped but smelly. By contrast, the bathroom that I went to on my first Turkish Airlines flight was not only clean, but the airline also made an effort to add some special touches in the way of hand lotion and room freshener sticks.
